Classy soulful vocals, honest heartfelt songs

Joanna Cooke has a voice that mesmerises whenever it is heard. From live performances in intimate local venues to recordings on tracks played across the world, her versatility and soul shine through.

Joanna grew up on a musical diet of blues masters Muddy Waters and Howling Wolf with added input from female jazz and soul greats Bessie Smith, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin.

Joanna regularly plays over 120 shows a year, including festival main stages. 2017 saw her perform at 15 festivals, including Boardmasters, Leopalooza, Glas-Denbury, Ocean City Jazz and Blues (Plymouth), Dart Music, The Wonderfields and Kingsbridge. She has supported major label artists Rag N Bone Man (as part of his hand picked bill) and JP Cooper. Joanna has appeared on local BBC TV (Spotlight) and radio shows, with strong BBC Introducing support in both Devon and Cornwall.

A first single, “Last June” was followed by Joanna's debut EP 'Remember Me', and more recently by the EP 'Wound Up'. More recordings are under way for another planned release.

Joanna's high quality vocals and top-line writing skills have been used internationally by dance music producers in Brazil (Vintage Culture - nearly 4m Youtube views - link below), Australia (Odd Mob) and South Africa (Garcon) (dance chart #1 in those countries) plus on several releases in Europe, with a major release to come.

“Prepare yourselves: this is how it's done. The soulful and epic Joanna Cooke" BBC Introducing in Devon
